2005 WHCoA To Participate In Alliance For Aging Research Solutions Forum
The Chair of the 2005 White House Conference on Aging (WHCoA) Policy Committee Dorcas R. Hardy has announced that the WHCoA will participate in a Solutions Forum sponsored by the Alliance for Aging Research on Thursday, September 22, 2005 in Washington, DC.
Policy Committee member Robert Blancato and Advisory Committee member William Turenne will hear recommendations and innovative solutions from researchers and aging professionals who will discuss the importance of clinical and applied research to the future of aging policy in our nation. This input will assist the Policy Committee in their planning for the 2005 White House Conference on Aging, scheduled to occur December 11 to 14 in Washington, DC.
The mission of the WHCoA, which is held once a decade, is to report policy recommendations to the President and Congress which are designed to help guide national aging policies for the next ten years and beyond. Four previous White House Conferences on Aging have been held.
The 2005 WHCoA will focus on the interests of current and future seniors, including the 78 million baby boomers who will begin to turn 60 in January 2006. The Alliance for Aging Research is a private, not-for-profit advocacy organization founded in 1986 to promote medical and behavioral research. The Alliance held a WHCoA listening session in December 2004.
