2005 WHCoA Policy Committee Chairman to Speak at The Annual Conference of The National Association of Area Agencies on Aging

Dorcas R. Hardy, Chairman of the 2005 White House Conference on Aging (WHCoA) Policy Committee, will address the Annual Conference of the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging (N4A) on July 13, 2005 in Bellevue, Washington.

Chairman Hardy’s remarks, entitled “On the Road to the 2005 WHCoA” will highlight the input received from more than 300 local, state and regional events involving nearly 70,000 citizens over the last year. The WHCoA has encouraged public input to ensure that the issues of concern and interests of millions of current and future seniors are considered as it continues planning for the historic WHCoA. The 2005 WHCoA will occur from December 11 to 14, 2005 in Washington, DC.

The mission of the WHCoA, which is held once a decade, is to report policy recommendations to the President and Congress which are designed to help guide national aging policies for the next ten years and beyond. Only four previous White House Conferences on Aging have been held. The 2005 WHCoA will focus on the challenges presented by unprecedented U.S. longevity and the aging of 78 million baby boomers.

N4A represents the 655 area agencies on aging (AAAs) and more than 230 Title VI Native American aging programs in the U.S.
