2005 WHCoA To Participate In Tennessee Solutions Forum
Dorcas R. Hardy, 2005 White House Conference on Aging
(WHCoA) Policy Committee Chairman, has announced that Robert
Blancato, Policy Committee member, and WHCoA Advisory Committee
members Lupo Carlota and T. Bella Dinh-Zarr will participate
at the Tennessee 2005 White House Conference on Aging Solutions
Forum in Nashville, Tennessee on August 3, 2005.
The Policy Committee will hear recommendations from senior
citizens, baby boomers and policymakers from Tennessee.
This input will assist the Policy Committee in their planning
for the 2005 White House Conference on Aging, scheduled
to occur December 11 to 14 in Washington, DC.
The mission of the WHCoA, which is held once a decade,
is to report policy recommendations to the President and
Congress which are designed to help guide national aging
policies for the next ten years and beyond. Four previous
White House Conferences on Aging have been held.
The 2005 WHCoA will focus on the interests of current
and future seniors, including the 78 million baby boomers
who will begin to turn 60 in January 2006. In 2000, 12.4
percent of the Tennessee’s population was age 65
and older. By 2025, that percentage is expected to increase
to 20.3 percent.
