Alejandro
Aparicio, M.D., F.A.C.P.
Dr. Alejandro Aparicio is currently the Director, Division
of Continuing Physician Professional Development, American
Medical Association as well as Vice President for Medical
Affairs at Ballard Health Care, a Long Term Care facility
in Des Plaines, Illinois.
He is Board Certified in Internal
Medicine and holds a certificate of Added Qualifications
in Geriatrics. He is also a Certified Medical Director
of Long Term Care facilities and practices on the north
side of Chicago. On September 1, 2004, he started a
new role as Director, Division of Continuing Physician
Professional Development at the American Medical Association.
Dr. Aparicio is a Past President of the Illinois Geriatrics
Society and the current Vice President of the Illinois
Medical Directors Association. For the past ten years he
has served in the House of Delegates of the American Medical
Directors Association, where he is also a member of the
Education Committee.
Recently he was appointed to the Long
Term Care and Assisted Living Professional and Technical
Advisory Committee of the Joint Commission on Accreditation
of Healthcare Organizations. In addition, he is involved
in undergraduate, graduate and continuing medical education
and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the
University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine and
a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Aparicio’s
community involvement over the years has included coaching
children’s soccer teams and judging science fair
projects at a Chicago Public School, Edison Regional Gifted
Center, where he was also a member of the Local School
Council. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Ravenswood
Health Care Foundation and is President and Chairman of
the Board of Directors of Hispanocare.
