Executive Director
SCOTT NYSTROM, PH.D. is the Executive Director of the White House Conference on Aging.
Dr. Nystrom has over 20 years of experience working on aging policy issues including retirement planning, health policy, long term care policy, pension policy, economic and tax policy, older workers, and global aging.
Prior to this appointment, Scott was senior policy advisor with the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging chaired by Senator Larry Craig of Idaho. He was previously a consulting health economist, academic researcher, and university professor teaching graduate health economics, insurance, and public policy. Dr. Nystrom has also served as senior policy advisor with President Clinton’s Bipartisan Commission on Entitlement and Tax Reform chaired by Senator Bob Kerrey of Nebraska; was a legislative assistant to U.S. Congressman Jim McCrery of Louisiana during the national health care reform debate; and a senior career staff with the White House Office of Management and Budget during the George H.W. Bush and Reagan Administrations.
Dr. Nystrom earned a bachelor of arts from St. Olaf College in Minnesota, a master of arts from the University of New Mexico, and a Ph.D. from the George Washington University.
